I would like to send my condolences to Mr Tsvangirai and his family on the tragic death of his wife, Susan, last week. How much more can this brave man be expected to bear in his struggle to restore his country to its former glory?

It must be heartbreaking to see this once prosperous country descend into its present chaos. Zimbabwe was once the envy of many African countries with its fertile, productive land sitting on rich mineral seams, a leader in education and health care.  I don’t think anyone could have imagined in their worst nightmares the poverty, violence and sickness that they have today.

I don’t know how successful the Unity party will be but it can hardly get any worse and Prime Minister Tsvangirai and his party have endured so much injustice that I think they should be given a chance and they will surely be heartened if they know that the rest of the free world support them in their endeavours.

There is a petition here  asking the chairman of the African Union, as guarantor of the unity government, to  work to end the political repression which has crippled Zimbabwe.
